When Color Means Who’s Who.
If all football players wore uniform of the same color, how
would the players and fans tell which team was which? To avoid such a mix up,
the players on one team wear uniforms of another color. Color tells everyone
who’s who.
Color also helps people in their work. The men who work on
the flight deck of an aircraft carrier wear shirts and caps of colors that tell
what their jobs are.
One color
means catapult crew;
A second
color means recovery crew;
A third
color means medical corps, and so on.
Construction workers sometimes wear different-colored hats
so the foreman can tell what each man is supposed to be doing.
A red hat
can mean an ironworker.
A blue hat
can mean an laborer.
A yellow
hat can mean an electrician.
Color can be like a label, telling people who’s who.
